China Book Review - Vol.1 2024 - Asian Society

Every year, in May, China Book Review publish a physical edition of China Books Review, collecting 25-30 articles focused on books published in the previous calendar year (including the winners of that year’s book prize). We call this our “yearbook,” featuring our best original illustrations and artwork as well as a selection of our reviews, essays, excerpts, profiles and columns, freshly laid out for print. If you missed anything from our output in the previous year, this is a great way to catch up, or to flip through our fare outside the digital world.

China Books Review is a digital magazine on all things China and bookish. We are a literary review for all general readers interested in China and the Sinophone world, publishing reviews, essays, excerpts and more, as well as hosting a monthly podcast and occasional book talks at Asia Society in New York. We maintain dynamic lists of recent, upcoming and bestselling China books, as well as editors’ picks from the pack. We also run a bimonthly book club, administer an annual book prize, and publish a physical yearbook.
