As a media professional and public intellectual dedicated to promoting justice, Tam Wai-wan often draws her subjects from society's more vulnerable communities. Her cinematic prose vividly captures the essence of those she interviews. Her perspective on social issues is incisive, yet her writing is underpinned by a deep sense of human concern. Reading her articles is both heartwarming and invigorating! In this era, talented, passionate, and compassionate journalists are not nonexistent, but in the face of such a chaotic and morally inverted society, one also needs to be "crazy" enough. Tam Wai-wan has abandoned pretense and politeness, directly addressing the core of issues. I believe that this kind of "craziness" is what will safeguard the truth in the next decade. Tam Wai-wan is a lecturer at the School of Journalism and Communication, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a writer of feature interviews and long-form articles for Ming Pao Sunday Life. She previously worked as a reporter for Ming Pao and Cable News. She has won the Human Rights Press Award for "Newspaper Feature" and "Commentary and Analysis" jointly organized by Amnesty International Hong Kong, the Foreign Correspondents' Club Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Journalists Association. She writes extensive articles while teaching news features at university.
