Every time we pass Sunny Bay, we see a few logs emerging from the sea. That was the original site of Yam O Timber Pond, where there used to be timber merchants, stacks of logs covering the sea, and people living in shacks over the water. The timber pond is now closed, and Yam O has become Sunny Bay. Author Cheng Jing's father was the last worker at this timber pond. Her novel, set against the backdrop of Yam O Timber Pond, encompasses love, family, and a longing for a vanished place. The novel is accompanied by illustrations by Aapie, depicting the past scenery of the timber pond. The landscape of Lantau Island may change, but its sentiment can forever remain.
