季風人文講壇第98期:Benedict Rogers
The Fight for the New World Order: Dictatorship versus Democracy
with Benedict Rogers
February 5, 2026|In English
This talk explores Benedict Rogers' book, The China Nexus, examining his love of Asia, China’s human rights crisis, its influence in the region, its threat to the free world, and what can be done in response. It offers a clear, first-hand account of China’s political environment over the past three decades, combining personal experience with careful documentation. At a moment of renewed confrontation between China and the West, the book provides an essential framework for understanding the complexity of today’s global landscape.
About the Speaker
Benedict Rogers began his career as a journalist in Hong Kong after the 1997 handover and has spent more than 25 years working on human rights issues across Asia. In 2017, he was denied entry to Hong Kong and has since faced legal and personal pressure from the Chinese authorities. He is Senior Director at Fortify Rights, and co-founder and Chair of Hong Kong Watch. A frequent media commentator, he is a recipient of the International Religious Freedom Summit’s advocacy award.
About the Book
The book The China Nexus tells the story of his fight for freedom for the peoples of China and neighbouring countries Myanmar and North Korea and sets out how a global movement for human rights in China is emerging and what the free world should do next. It describes the importance of the "China Nexus" in the author's journey and geopolitics and its challenges. Pioneering international inquiries into forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, the genocide of the Uyghurs and global action for Hong Kong, as well as highlighting the Vatican's silence, the author has been at the heart of advocacy for human rights in China in recent years.
