“Tataba” is a renowned Indian brand of off-road buses that traverse the rugged roads of the Third World, navigating the undulating landscapes and vast plateaus of Africa. Tataba also embodies a spirit of exploration, a quest to find answers to the questions encountered along the way. This travelogue doesn't dwell on trivial tourist attractions but instead captures the author's feelings and observations during the journey. Years after his African adventure, the author had the opportunity to pursue advanced studies at Stanford University, demonstrating that travel, while enriching, must be complemented by scholarly pursuits. Accumulating knowledge from fundamental principles, he connected the disparate fragments of his journey, turning isolated points into lines, and lines into a network. Spanning the spectrum of splendor and desolation, and exploring the divide between extreme poverty and extreme wealth, he crafted “Tataba.”
