Over the past decade, Hong Kong citizens have continuously taken to the streets, overturning the perception of Hongkongers as politically apathetic and sparking rich public debate, while also highlighting numerous social contradictions. Familiar concepts today, such as core values, public space, collective memory, property hegemony, and local identity, largely originated from social movements.
