This book is an anthology of poems, collecting 194 works by Wu Ang written between 1997 and 2022, spanning 16 years. It can be said to document the poet's growth in poetry creation.
The poetry collection showcases her varying degrees of experimentation with poetry writing. Among them are "Winter and Cabbage" about everyday life scenes, "An American Story" recording fragments of travel experiences, "A Letter to Mom" about family and friendship, and self-reflective works like "Self-Portrait." The range of issues covered is quite broad, not limited to breaking through and shouting from a gender perspective, but rather focusing on a deep contemplation of life. She resists singular female archetypes, attempting to establish, through poetry, real human women with flesh and blood, privacy, and fears. Every stroke is imbued with a gaze into "the meaning of being." It awakens our senses, increasingly parched by homogeneous content, and helps us rediscover our passion for reading and even reciting.
