Data justice

This book focuses on the "theory of data justice". "Datafication" is not merely a technology; it is in fact a "political and economic system," and the social justice issues arising from datafication should be prioritized. Firstly, data justice requires finding ways to address the harms of capitalism. Secondly, datafication embedded in government governance weakens the power of social members, and data justice requires government agencies to prioritize people-oriented and solidarity-building approaches. Thirdly, the concept of data justice must be linked to global sociology, not just "Western" perspectives. Fourthly, data justice must address the harms of exploitation, discrimination, privacy infringement, surveillance, manipulation, and injustice brought about by datafication. Fifthly, datafication restricts citizens' subjectivity, and data justice requires ensuring active and autonomous citizen participation in politics. Sixthly, given the serious flaws in the regulatory framework centered on informed consent, we should move from safeguarding individual rights to recognizing collective order, and advance towards data justice policies.
