Wang Sheng’s life was undoubtedly inextricably linked with Chiang Ching-kuo.
Chiang Ching-kuo’s promotion and reliance on Wang Sheng are evident in historical records: Wang Sheng often accompanied him at important events; he was dispatched to Vietnam to promote the political warfare system to counter the expansion of the communist regime; and he was even tasked with leading the "Liu Shaokang Office," all of which speak to Wang Sheng’s status and importance. However, as rumors of succession spread, the Liu Shaokang Office was disbanded by Chiang Ching-kuo in 1983, and Wang Sheng was appointed ambassador to Paraguay, thereby withdrawing from the center of political power.
This book meticulously examines relevant historical materials about Wang Sheng in the "Chiang Ching-kuo Diary," as well as "Wang Sheng’s Diary" and the recollections and observations of his former subordinates. The book is divided into four sections, focusing respectively on Wang Sheng in the "Chiang Ching-kuo Diary," the relationship between Wang Sheng and Chiang Ching-kuo, the background to the publication of "Wang Sheng’s Diary," and the memories of his former colleagues and subordinates regarding his political work. From these, the book presents the relationship between Chiang Ching-kuo and Wang Sheng, as well as the "Liu Shaokang Office" that connected the two, with particular attention to this period in Chiang Ching-kuo’s later years.
