Re-examining the Sino-Japanese War

Unlike traditional Sino-Japanese War histories that focus on military narratives or a single national perspective, this book revises existing understandings of the Sino-Japanese War. It deeply integrates archival materials such as Yan Xishan's telegrams and Chiang Kai-shek's diaries, supplementing previously overlooked local details and the decision-making logic of those in power. At the same time, it incorporates the political and social dynamics within Japan and the international situation, offering a transnational empirical perspective. What makes it even more unique is its extension to post-war memory and historical policies, filling the gap in existing research after the "end" of the war and presenting a dynamic historical panorama to help readers update their cognitive framework.
This is not just a history of war, but also a modern and contemporary history of East Asia concerning decision-making, mobilization, technological cooperation, and collective memory.
