Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) was one of the three greatest science fiction writers of the 20th century and a world-renowned versatile popular author. Born in Belarus, he immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of three and settled in New York City. Exceptionally intelligent, he graduated from Columbia University at 19 and subsequently earned master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the same university. In 1949, he became a lecturer at Boston University School of Medicine, and in 1955, he was promoted to associate professor. Three years later, due to his intense passion for writing, he resigned from his teaching position to become a full-time professional writer, a career he pursued until his last moment. Asimov wrote on everything, authoring nearly 500 books throughout his life. However, both he himself and readers worldwide cherished his science fiction works the most. He won five Hugo Awards, two Nebula Awards, and the Grand Master Award, the highest honor in the science fiction community. In recent years, two major robot science fiction films, "Bicentennial Man" and "I, Robot," were adapted from his famous works. The "Foundation Series" is Asimov's representative science fiction work, which he developed over half a century. The first installment was completed in early September 1941, and the last was barely finished just before his death. In his later years, Asimov increasingly identified with Hari Seldon, the soul of "Foundation," and he indeed had a far-sighted, compassionate concern for human civilization. "Living less than a hundred years, often harboring worries for a thousand" perfectly describes the master's magnanimity.
