Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) was one of the three greatest science fiction writers of the 20th century, and a world-renowned versatile popular author. Born in Belarus, he immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of three and settled in New York City. Exceptionally intelligent, he graduated from Columbia University at the age of nineteen and subsequently earned master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the same university. In 1949, he became a lecturer at Boston University School of Medicine, was promoted to associate professor in 1955, and three years later, due to his passion for writing, he resigned from his teaching position to become a professional writer until the last moment of his life. Asimov wrote about everything, authoring nearly five hundred books throughout his life. However, both he himself and readers worldwide sincerely cherished his science fiction works the most. He won five Hugo Awards, two Nebula Awards, and the Grand Master Award, the highest honor in the science fiction world. In recent years, two blockbuster robot science fiction films, "Bicentennial Man" and "I, Robot," were adapted from his famous works. The "Foundation series" is Asimov's representative science fiction work, which he cultivated for half a century. The first story was completed in early September 1941, and the last one was barely finished just before his death. In his later years, Asimov increasingly identified with Hari Seldon, the spiritual leader of "Foundation," and he indeed had a far-sighted, compassionate concern for human civilization. "Though life is less than a hundred years, one often harbors worries for a thousand" perfectly describes the master's breadth of mind.
